Paris Plage
Since 2002, the city of Paris has created three different beach areas along the Siene, each with a different theme. Trucking in tonnes of sand and providing free parasols and kayak rentals, these beaches, or plage in French, have increased steadily in popularity and visitors hoping to stake a spot are encouraged to arrive early to avoid disappointment. The beaches are open for a four week duration each summer, from 8 am to midnight.
